Here is some information about who we are....
Susan - This is me! I am 32 years old. I am a wife and full time mother to my 2 children. I love fresh air, fitness, the seaside, being creative, making things, feeling intellectually challenged and spending time with my family. I am educated to postgraduate level (Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Sport and Exercise Science) and my professional interest is Pilates. I am also working towards my British Horse Society Riding Instructors Qualification. I love Learning!
Iain €“ This is my Husband. He is a Helicopter Pilot in the Royal Navy and will be away with work for the duration of the appointment.
Xanthe €“ Our 3 year old daughter. She is friendly, energetic and sociable with a desire to learn and be physically active.
Rafe €“ Our 1 year old son. He is friendly, confident and out-going with an expressive nature. He is just starting to show signs of walking and wanting to communicate with those around him.
Juno and Hallie €“ Our 2 lovely dogs.
Xanthe attends pre-school 4 mornings a week. Rafe and I go to playgroup 2 mornings a week (Xanthe joins us on one of these mornings). My dogs are walked every day for at least 45 minutes (this is my job) and often will be taken out running by my husband, or more recently myself, once or twice a week. We go swimming once a week where we meet up with friends and their children. We visit Truro (nearest small city) or Falmouth (Fishing Port with an Arty/Touristy feel) once or twice a week. We enjoy eating out and going to coffee shops as a family. You would be more than welcome to join us on our many outings!
We are interested in healthy living and make conscientious food choices. We cook nearly all our meals from scratch and are interested in the quality of our food ingredients and how they have been raised/grown. We are concerned with animal welfare and when possible will choose organic meat options. We are open to eating new and interesting things and try our best to all eat the same thing at meal times! We eat all our meals as a family around a dining table.
We believe in children having routine and discipline without it being suffocating. We set rules and boundaries, and do our best to help our children understand the importance of respecting these rules and boundaries in an atmosphere of mutual respect, patience and love.
As a family we are not religious but are respectful of the religious beliefs of others.
Both Children have good sleeping routines which at the moment involve Rafe being asleep by 6pm and Xanthe asleep by approx 6.30pm. Both are up around 6.30am in the morning. I am expecting the routine to shift by an hour when the clocks go forward!
The dogs belong to me and Iain. They do interact with the children but they are not our children's pets. They have their own space in the house during the day and spend time in the evening with us once the children have gone to bed.
As our au pair we would like you to be energetic, fun, patient, to be able to swim, to like dogs and to be able to cook. The public transport where we live is not that good so it would be beneficial for you if you could drive. I have an automatic Volvo estate which could be made available to you.
